India fascinates people from all over the world with its culture. India has historical monuments, beaches, places of religious pilgrimage, beautiful resorts and much more that attracts tourists. Tourism departments contribute to the development of international and domestic tourism in the country. Indian tourism has a beneficial effect on deterring terrorism in the country and environmental pollution. The purposeful efforts of the authorities contribute to the further development of the Indian tourism industry.

Tourism in the economy of India
Tourism is one of the fastest growing industries in the world. It plays a significant role in the development of the Indian economy. India is one of the most popular travel destinations in Asia. Bounded by the Himalayan range to the north and surrounded by water on three sides (the Arabian Sea, the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean), India offers a wide range of places to see astounding sites and enjoy entertainment. Charming sunsets, colorful mountains and landscapes make India a beautiful country. Historical monuments, fortresses and much more add to the grandeur of the country and attract many tourists from all over the world.

Tourism is the second largest source of foreign exchange earnings in India. The tourism industry employs a large number of people, both skilled and unskilled. Hostels, travel agencies, transport companies, including airlines, allow you to significantly succeed in this industry. Tourism promotes national integration and international understanding. In 2005, for the development of tourism in India, the Indian Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) held a campaign review called Incredible India. For effective growth, ITDC is divided in different places into different sections: “spiritual tourism”, “resort tourism”, “ecotourism” and “adventure tourism”.

Medical tourism
Today, India is becoming a favorite destination for healing. The country has witnessed a significant growth in the number of hospitals and highly qualified doctors, which not only attract patients from neighboring countries, but also from more distant countries in the Middle East and West.

As the concept of medical tourism continues to gain momentum in India, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, through the Ministry of Tourism, is supporting numerous initiatives to maintain international standards in medical facilities. There are countries in the world where critically ill patients may have to wait several months. But in Delhi, any kind of treatment is available in no time. And the cost of treatment is much less than in developed countries.
